Development / I want to help.
« on: March 29, 2011, 01:07:52 am »
Hey, I want to help MS development, I'm very good with C, good with ASM, and ok with C++, but i'm sure I can help :)

Should I just pick something that's not done from the wiki's todo list? or do we all get assignments?

Can you add an option to generate complete snow worlds?
Did you miss this part?

Didn't miss, just expanded a little on it, like you expanded on mine :)
And I really love your idea of rain forests! lol Just saw a "Man vs. Wild" episode in Borneo jungles a few days ago, he climbed there in a cave is search of water source haha!

As in, screw the "bio-dome" concept and force snow to be generated always

Well then to let everyone be happy, why not to add a certain config line, that would allow generating either a multi-biome world, or generating the whole world as one biome.

Discussion / Re: Map generation

Nredor, from what I understand, the seed used for map gen never changes, right?

I'm just making sure, because I was experimenting with the server (love it so much XD) and it keeps generating exactly the same terrain each time, either covered with snow or grass, depending on the config file.

P3 700MHz
768Mb RAM
Gentoo linux, stable branch.

Compiled it on the same machine. Works like a charm, especially with world in tmpfs.

Tried starting server with nice -20, could hold 5 players without any time lags (well except network ping related)
